ASPIRE is now developing interactive online content using Macromedia’s Flash. The Flash 5 Player is required to run these lessons. It is included with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer browser, or easily downloaded here.
ASPIRE has produced the bulk of the interactive lessons on this site with Java. The lessons include interactive labs written with Java and Javascript. The plug-in is required to view these lessons, which can be found here. If you use Apple Macintosh computers, here is a help file.
Prior to the latest release of Java 1.2, ASPIRE created a few lessons with an earlier version of the Java language.

Since 1997, the Astrophysics Science Project Integrating Research & Education (ASPIRE) has been creating interactive online science lessons and labs to be used by teachers in the classroom with their students. These lessons have been written by teachers, created by web-developers and programmers, while working with research scientists from the High Resolution Fly’s Eye Group at the University of Utah. This collaborative effort has produced a body of labs and lessons unique to the Internet.

Here is a link to a tutorial that will help you learn how to prepare the ASPIRE labs and lessons for classroom use. If you are a teacher in Utah, and wish to learn how to use the lessons in your classroom, ASPIRE is happy to arrange to visit your school for a training session.

Note to teachers:

It is recomended that students reboot their computers between lab activities in order to fully maximize the abilities of the browsers. Both Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer use memory each time an applet is loaded. This memory will not be unloaded until the computer is rebooted.

The students now have their own page to get to the lessons. Please use the ‘lessons’ link under the student menu to help you students navigate.
